The Western Iowa Tech women's soccer team helped break in the brand new Columbus Fieldhouse during a spring scrimmage on Sunday afternoon.
The Comets took on the Central CC Raiders in the first ever sporting event held at the new 11.9-acre indoor facility in Columbus, Nebraska.
"I am truly thankful to Central Community College and the Columbus Fieldhouse for their warm hospitality and for providing us with an exceptional venue for our event," WIT head coach Eddie Vongsiprasom said.
The exhibition match was the Comets' first chance to apply their offseason training to a live match against an opponent.
"I am encouraged by the progress we have made since the fall and the positive direction in which we are heading," Vongsiprasom said. "I firmly believe that we are a stronger and more cohesive team than we were in the fall, and this game has reignited our drive to succeed and improve.
The Comets play at Briar Cliff University on March 30.
