Wednesday marked the 38th annual National Girls and Women in Sports Day, a day dedicated to celebrating the achievements of female athletes and promoting gender equality in sports.
The Comets understand the importance of acknowledging the trailblazing women who came before them. As a new women's program, the Comets recognize they are reaping the fruits of their predecessors' hard work and dedication. As athletic ambassadors of Western Iowa Tech, the Comets want to do their part to empower the next generation.
On Wednesday night, the Comets did exactly that.
By sharing their time, skills, and passion for the game with Siouxland youth, the Comets aimed to create an environment where every female athlete can envision themselves playing at a higher level. Where every female feels welcomed and empowered by their teammate and community. Where every female athlete is supported to achieve greatness.
The Comets women's soccer team is proud to be a part of this movement and is committed to continuing the legacy of strong, empowered women in sports.
The women's soccer program thanks Western Iowa Tech for being the community's college, and Diablos Football Club for the opportunity to give back.
We are proud to celebrate the achievements of female athletes and recognize their contributions to the world of sports. May their stories inspire us to break barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create a more inclusive and equitable future for all.
