Everyone got in on the fun during men's soccer's 14-0 home conference win against Scott Community College on Saturday afternoon.
Eleven players scored and WIT earned its fourth straight clean sheet to improve to 7-2-1 overall and 1-0 in Iowa Community College Athletic Conference play.
"Very happy to get another game where we took care of business early on, especially in about a 25-minute span in the first half," head coach Alex Scheuler said.
Ben Shields (17', 54'), Jaime Perez (26', 74') and Nhlakanipho Ngubane (32', 35') each scored two goals. Ngubane scored both of his in a three-minute span late in the first half.
The Comets scored nine times between the 12th and 38th minutes to lead 9-0 at halftime.
Edwin Garibay (12'), Matias Garcia Castilla (14'), Thomas Olivera (21'), Tyler Witter (34'), Aran Vivar Hernandez (38'), Gabriel Avellan (51'), Ryder Delport (69') and Julian Mena (84') all contributed to the offensive onslaught Saturday.
Hernandez recorded a team-high three assists. Jake Watt and Andre Pinheiro each had two.
"(I'm) happy we were able to rest some players ahead of a huge matchup versus a top-five team in the nation on Wednesday," Scheuler said.
Sofienne Hammami was tasked in the second half with stopping the only Eagles shot-on-goal. Victor Goscinski was untested in 45 first-half minutes.
WIT hosts Northeast Community College -- the top-ranked team in NJCAA Division II -- at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at Ruegger Field.
The Comets are debuting new green kits on Wednesday, and fans are encouraged to wear neon colors or green Comets gear to celebrate.
